Welcome to the Madd Labs

Hello writers, and welcome to the Madd Labs!

For years, I kept telling everyone I was writing a novel but would never reveal anything about it. Cringing anytime someone would ask me what it was about. The more time that stretched on as I continued to edit and re-edit the same book, the more disconnected I felt from my writer identity. The more imposter syndrome would creep in. Still, I would sit at this desk and look at the thousands of words and worlds I've created over the years and yearn for some time to focus on that and nothing else.

I saved up about a year's worth of salary plus a little extra cushioning to take this time to focus on my craft. The idea was that if I could give myself the opportunity to put everything I had into finalizing this novel and all these stories and poems, at least I would know for sure if I was doing the right thing.

This opportunity is unique, and I am very fortunate to be in a position where I can safely do this incredibly selfish thing. I wanted a space where I could document the journey, which is what this blog will be. You can see all the ups and downs, my wins and failures, and maybe you can learn something from my experience. If nothing else, I hope you find this blog inspires you to do something for yourself.
